The ScanRail Rail Portal is a cloud-based Decision Support System (DSS) developed to eliminate information fragmentation and bridge the gap between supply and demand in the cross-border freight rail sector. Integrated directly into the TRANSPONEXT platform via an IFRAME, the tool provides operators with an extensive, centralized public dataset of nearly 150 rail options across the Italy-Croatia area. Through an intuitive interface, users can instantly query, compare, and rank routes based on key real-time parameters – such as transit times, distances, schedules, carbon emissions, and estimated rates – reducing information search times to zero and enabling highly optimized, sustainable multimodal transport decisions.
